President Trump will reportedly meet with Congressional Black Caucus soon

President Donald Trump will soon be meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus.

During a press conference on Thursday to reveal Trump’s new nominee to lead the Department of Labor, Alexander Acosta, White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks April Ryan asked the president if he planned to include the Congressional Black Caucus in discussions about his inner-city agenda.

Trump controversially responded to the question asking Ryan to set up a meeting and said that Rep. Elijah Cummings had cancelled a meeting — a claim Cummings denied.

“Let’s go set up a meeting,” Trump said on Thursday. “I would love to meet with the Black Caucus. I think it’s great.”

According to Rep. Cummings, the meeting will be happening soon.

The Democratic lawmaker said Sunday that they’ll be meeting about bringing down the cost of prescription drugs, a goal Trump promoted while campaigning.

Cummings told CBS’s “Face the Nation” that while it’s “very, very hard” to work with Trump as Democrats, it’s important to work with him when possible.

He then explained, “I want to talk about prescription drugs, the high price of prescription drugs. And he has made it clear that he wants to do something about that.”

Trump is expected to meet with the CBC the week of February 27th, following the Presidents’ Day recess.
