Muslim cleric dies leaving behind 130 wives and over 200 children

It seems like something out of Imperial China, but a Muslim cleric in Niger has passed away and left behind 130 wives and over 200 children.
93-year-old Mohammed Bello Abubakar died from an unknown illness on Saturday and many showed up to his funeral on Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail, some of his wives are pregnant at the moment.
In 2008, Bello, who at the time had 86 wives, was criticized by other Muslim preachers who demanded he divorce 82 of his wives within 48 hours.
He decided against it and kept marrying more women. He added 44 new wives since, averaging 5.5 marriages a year.
Many of his wives say they came to him for healing and one of them even suggested she could not refuse his proposal because it was a command from God.
However, it hasn’t all been marital bliss for the African preacher. Ten of his marriages ended in divorce, but seeing as the current divorce rate in the U.S. is about fifty percent, Bello’s track record is pretty good.
